March 27, 2024 Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation: DEFIANCE, Ohio (Wednesday, March 28, 2024) -The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will host a community-wide open house at its Defiance County maintenance garage in Defiance.

The event will be held rain or shine, Saturday, April 20, 12-4 p.m., at the garage, located at 2340 Baltimore Street, Defiance.

The event will feature a variety of interactive displays and activities provided by ODOT and community partners:

  • Explore equipment used by emergency responders, and ODOT equipment, including a snowplow, loader, and cone truck.
  • Paint-a-Plow by placing a handprint or signature on a plow.
  • Face painting for kids.
  • Experience a distracted or impaired driver simulator.
  • Tour the ODOT facility and learn more about ODOT maintenance and upcoming highway projects.

“We are excited to spend this afternoon getting to know our community and share with them who we are and all that we do in our facilities and around the county,” said Jason Hoschak, ODOT Defiance County transportation administrator.

Community partners participating in the event are Defiance Police Department, Defiance Fire Department, Defiance County Health Department, Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and local public officials.

Cookies, coffee, water, and punch will be provided by ODOT. Food will be available for purchase from Seasoned Mobile Grill food truck.
