Ohio is rising in the ranks of states with the highest obesity rate.
According to a report by the policy-health group "Trust for America's Health", Ohio's adult obesity rate has risen to an all-time high of 33.8% in 2017. Local clinical dietician, Becky Mohr, says she isn't surprised to hear of our state's rising obesity rate because Americans are in general consuming more processed foods that are calorically dense and are less active. But Ohioans can lead a healthier life if they can commit to making the changes.
"The number one thing is just being willing for people to make those healthy food and lifestyle choices. Taking advantage of our local resources. Walking, biking paths, our local farmer's markets," explained Becky Mohr, clinical dietician at Lima Memorial Health System
Mohr also says that educating the public on ways to live a healthier life will also go a long way to improve Ohioan's lives.
