COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) - Lawmakers in the Ohio House and Senate have put their approval on the final version of Ohio's next two-year operating budget.

Republicans in the state senate passed the just over 60 billion dollar measure without a single Democrat voting in favor.  Lawmakers from both chambers reportedly stayed late yesterday working out the differences in the House and Senate versions of the budget. Some key points of the proposed budget include an income tax reduction by establishing a flat rate of 2.75 percent and lowering Ohio's top Income tax bracket. The measure would also include what Senate leaders term meaningful property tax reform, funding for education, and it designates $600 million towards a new Browns stadium.

Once the bill is on Governor DeWine’s desk, he can sign it into law, use his line-item veto power to remove single budget items, or he could veto the entire budget bill.  The state constitution mandates Ohio's next budget be signed by June 30th for it to be in place by the start of the state's fiscal year on July 1st.
