COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — Seventeen people were killed on Ohio roadways during the five-day Christmas holiday weekend, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The fatalities resulted from 14 crashes statewide between Christmas Eve and Sunday, Dec. 28. Patrol officials said four of those killed were not wearing seat belts, three deaths involved pedestrians, and two crashes were linked to impaired driving.
Troopers also made 231 arrests for driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs during the holiday enforcement period.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to report suspected impaired drivers by dialing #677.
