Franklin County law enforcement investigating stolen crane from construction site

March 31, 2025, Press Release from theĀ Franklin County Sheriff's Office:

COLUMBUS, Ohio - On March 31, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported theft at 4999 Parsons Avenue in Columbus.

The Kent Power Company reported a highly unusual theft that took place at a construction site near the Eldorado Casinos at Scioto Downs on Parsons Avenue. An unknown individual stole a 2019 Kenworth 60-Ton Long Boom National Crane from the site, likely sometime overnight or over the weekend. The crane, valued at over $500,000, was taken without authorization.

Sheriff's Office investigators believe the person(s) responsible for the theft would have considerable experience and specialized knowledge of how to operate such equipment. Moreover, given its size and value, the 60-ton crane would be difficult to conceal and should be easily recognizable.

A photograph of the crane is attached. This case is still under active investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at (614) 525-3351. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
