SHAWNEE (WLIO) — A tightly contested pitcher’s duel turned into a late offensive surge as Parkway pulled away for a 7-5 win over Shawnee.

Shawnee’s Riley Rhodes was dominant in the circle, striking out 11 in a complete game effort to keep the Indians within striking distance.

The game remained a one-run battle until the sixth inning, when Taylor Lichty’s sacrifice fly brought home Angie Karapondo to tie it at one.

Parkway responded in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run gap shot from Madelyn Stover that sparked a six-run inning to take control.

Shawnee rallied late, trimming the deficit and bringing the tying run to the plate, but Brittyn Bruns shut the door to secure the Panthers’ win.
