CLEVELAND, Ohio (WLIO) — The biggest movie in the United States over the July 11 weekend featured Superman as its star, but Ohio also played a major role.
It’s fitting that parts of James Gunn’s film were shot in Cleveland, as Superman’s creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, dreamed up the Man of Steel while attending high school in the Cleveland suburb of Glenville.
Moviegoers may have noticed that scenes in the DC summer blockbuster featured familiar landmarks from both Cleveland and Cincinnati.
“It's a good it's a good showcase for Ohio. It's good showcase for Cleveland and something that's very important. We continued in this budget funding for for the movie credit. This is, frankly, how we get movies like Superman here. And some people may ask, what the advantage of that is, frankly, is one more way to showcase Ohio, one more way to showcase what a great state this is," said Gov. Mike DeWine.
