Lima invites community to National Night Out at Lincoln Park

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Invite, involve and invest. That's the message behind an annual event designed to bring neighbors together while strengthening relationships between the community and local first responders.

The City of Lima and Lima Memorial Health System are inviting the public to attend National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lincoln Park. The event will feature food, family-friendly activities and fellowship while giving residents the opportunity to meet first responders and get to know the people behind the uniforms.

Organizers say the goal is to encourage residents to become more involved in their neighborhoods and invest their time in making the community safer and stronger. This marks the second consecutive year Lima Memorial Health System has sponsored National Night Out as part of its commitment to promoting safer, healthier communities.

"This is an important event for us because it gives us the opportunity to get into the community in a different manner. Normally they see us in a health care setting. Now they get to see us in a public safety setting. But we still get to incorporate a lot of our health care services into the National Night Out," said Rick Sanchez, chief of police for the Lima Memorial Campus Police Department.

Sanchez said hospital staff members are excited to once again participate in National Night Out and welcome the community to Lincoln Park on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.
