COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — The number of fatalities from car crashes over Memorial Day weekend dropped this year compared to 2024.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that 12 people were killed in 11 crashes statewide during the four-day reporting period — a significant decrease from the 26 fatalities recorded during the same weekend last year.

Troopers also arrested 410 people for impaired driving and made 70 drug-related arrests.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists if they see an impaired driver or drug activity they are urged to call #677 to report it.
