OHIO (WLIO) - Ohio consumers are getting ready to enjoy some shopping without worrying about the sales tax. The state's annual sales tax holiday kicks off tonight at midnight and lasts until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024.

The holiday helps to ease the financial burden for Ohio families ahead of the school year to buy clothing, supplies, and other items.
This ten-day period is new for 2024 as previous years have observed the sales tax exclusion on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in August. Any product that sells for $500 or less qualifies except alcohol, tobacco, motor, and watercraft. The holiday helps to ease the financial burden for Ohio families ahead of the school year to buy clothing, supplies, and other items.
