Lima Senior graduate Alan Kingsbery was a world class cyclist who competed in the 1975 Pan America games and the 1976 Montreal Olympics before tragedy changed the course of his life .
In 1978 Kingsbery was hit by a cement truck while riding his bike. The accident largely put an end to his career, but not before he was able to compete one last time. Kingsbery came in first in his division cycling at the Para- Olympic games in Columbus, Ohio. He now likes to share the lessons he learned with others.
Kingsbery's visit is part of a two year school project called "Simple as Pi." The project aims at taking a concept such as biking, to explore math, science, and the arts.
