LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Girls going into the 3rd through 11th grade can now get coaching from a professional basketball player right here in Lima.
Caterrion Thompson, a 2016 Lima Senior graduate, is hosting a girls basketball camp at the high school on June 16th and 17th. The camp will focus on helping young athletes develop confidence, discipline, and leadership skills.
Thompson is a Lima Senior High School athletic hall of fame inductee and holds the programs all-time scoring record with 1,901 career points. She continued playing basketball at Bowling Green State Univeristy and Mississippi State University. Today, Thompson competes professionally and has played in Boliva, Finland, the UK, Kosovo, Turkey and Greece. The camp will be the first of its kind in Lima.
"Coming up as a female in Lima, Ohio there wasn't really too many opportunities for just all-girls basketball camps," said Thompson. "I normally would have to go to basketball camp that was dominated by the boys, and I just wanted to be able to come back and give the girls an opportunity to compete against each other, learn from each other, and learn from my staff as well."
The camp will run June 16th and 17th at Lima Senior High School. The cost is $60 for Lima City School students and $80 for students not in the school district.
