OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) - Ottawa-Glandorf Local Schools were placed on partial lockdown Friday morning after an incident sparked concern in the community.
The Ottawa Police Department says they received a report around 7 AM for a Michigan man who was potentially having a mental health crisis. The man was in the area to see his daughter. The police department met with the man's family members and heard concerns from his physician, eventually deciding to place the school district on a modified lockdown.
Entry and exit was only allowed from the front entrance at each school building. School resource officers were also stationed within the schools. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office issued a county-wide search for the man, who was found just before 11 AM and was sent to St. Rita's for treatment.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 6:55 a.m., the Ottawa Police Department received a report regarding a male subject from Michigan who was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis. The individual had indicated that he was traveling to Ottawa to see his daughter.
After meeting with family members and receiving additional information and concerns from the subject's physician, the Ottawa Police Department took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the community and local schools. The Ottawa Police Department in cooperation with the Ottawa Glandorf Local School District through our School Resource Officer Program take the safety of students and staff seriously.
In cooperation with the Ottawa-Glandorf Schools, the district was placed on a modified lockdown, allowing entry and exit only through the main entrance of each school building. School Resource Officers were stationed within the schools, and officers actively searched for the individual, who was believed to be in the Ottawa area.
At the direction of the Ottawa Police Department, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office issued a county-wide attempt to locate (ATL) for the individual. Police departments in Michigan were also contacted to provide background information and assistance.
At approximately 10:48 a.m., the male subject was located at Ottawa Chevrolet and was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center without incident for evaluation and care.
Assisting on scene were Ottawa EMS, Putnam County EMS, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
