The Perry community mourns the loss of former principal, Nicholas Weingart. As many of them grieve, they took the time to come together to pray for the community and his family on Tuesday evening.
The prayer vigil was made up of Perry faculty, staff, the Weingart-Schooler family, and others from the community. Many learned about the loss early this week, so they took the time to remember him. Some say he impacted more than just students, but every member of the family.
"He had this golf cart that he would drive, he lives down the road, and he would drive it to the football game and he had these lights and sirens going and every time you would make a football touchdown he would play that and the band would try to play the fight song but they couldn't play louder than Mr. Nick's golf cart," said Angie Dobe, Perry 6th Grade Teacher.
Weingart was a principal at the high school for 13 years. He retired back in February. His wife, Ms. Schooler is a principal at the elementary school.
