Planned Improvements for St. Marys Electric Grid and Water Plant

Planned improvements for St. Marys electric grid, will come at a price for city residents. St. Marys council meeting in regular session tonight, moving forward on an ordinance that would revise rates for the municipal electric system. The city of St Marys has been experiencing severe outages and with the raise in rates they will be adding two new electric sub stations that will cost $265,000 each.

Water rates were another big topic for citizens sitting in on the meeting. "We are now going to start building a new water plant which we have to finance steps also in doing that was to raise the water rates by 14.9 percent and unfortunately that will be happening every year for six years but the citizens of St Marys don't have to worry they will still have some of the highest quality of water in the entire area and once we even do raise these water rates, we will be under the state average and that is really key to understand"

Officials also discussed adding security to the local hospitals emergency room and holding the 3rd annual employee appreciation dinner coming up on April 27th.
