LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Big Brothers Big Sisters educated potential volunteers about their organization and how to take care of their skin.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio partnered with the Bradfield Center and local business owners of color to provide an afternoon teaching kids and adults everything they need to know about skincare. Keeping your skin clean and moisturized is important at any age but it also makes a great bonding experience. Participants also got to see a few Big and Little matches spending time together, and learn more about what it takes to be a mentor.
"I still think a lot of people think it's a lot more than what it is as far as requirements. But we also want them to get the sense of the community and the connection that we're trying to make with people. Not just having a relationship one-on-one with a little, but also the sense of community and connection that you make while joining with a larger group," said Errin Boyer, an enrollment and match specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The owner of Plush Party Palace Girls Spa, Lafawn Pugsley, hopes that young girls especially leave with more than just knowledge of the different products to use.
"The most important thing is for them to leave from that table feeling refreshed, feeling revived, feeling beautiful, feeling like they matter," Pugsley said.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is always in need of more volunteers to be matched with Littles. To learn more about how to get involved, visit their website.Â
