PUTNAM COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) – A Continental woman was killed, and three others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in northern Putnam County on Monday night.
Erica Shafer, 32, died in the collision, which occurred on State Route 15 near County Road 21 shortly before 8:30 p.m., according to troopers from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Investigators say Shafer was traveling south on County Road 21 when she failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 15. Her vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Kristen Stechschulte, 43, of Cloverdale.
Stechschulte and two juvenile passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in Defiance.
Authorities report that Shafer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol impairment is believed to be a contributing factor, and the incident remains under investigation.
