KALIDA, Ohio (WLIO) – The oldest festival in Ohio is rolling on in Kalida this weekend.

The village is celebrating “Pioneer Days” with plenty of food, rides and entertainment. Dating back to September 1873, the event began as a picnic honoring the area’s first settlers. In 2025, the festival continues as a long-standing tradition in Putnam County, creating memories for families while also benefiting the Kalida Lions Club and Fire Department.

“The Lions Club and the fire department definitely rely on the funding to maintain what we're doing. I mean, the fire department's going towards trainings and trucks and stuff life that, and The Lions Club uses all the donations and everything to go towards the parks and the different projects they have going on around the area,” says Noah Hermiller, Committee Member for Pioneer Days Festival.
