The Partnership for Violence Free Families is offering multiple community events for Child Abuse Prevention month. Executive Director Donna Dickman presented the schedule for April's Child Abuse Prevention events at the Allen County Family and Children First Council. Activities include a balloon release, pinwheel ceremony, and parenting programs.
A full list of events for Child Abuse Prevention month in April can be found at the Partnership for Violence Free Families website. The month kicks off with the Balloon Release Ceremony at noon on April 4th, and continues with events throughout the month, ending with the Spank Out Day at the Lima Eagles Club from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on April 30th.
Dickman says everyone should look for warning signs of abuse, and if you see something, say something. "So if you think a child is being hurt, it's not always bruises we know that, but if you suspect something is going on in that home, domestic violence, if the child is witnessing that please place that call to Children Services," said Dickman, "It can be anonymous, and we know that it takes time to investigate those kind of cases, but every minute counts." You can call Allen County Children Services at (419) 227-8590 to report child abuse or another related crisis.
