Ranking lists Lima as 10th most dangerous city in Ohio

A ranking, put together by Home Security Shield, a product of ADT, says Lima is the 10th most dangerous city in the state, and the second most when it comes to violent crime.

The company compiled numbers on both violent crime and property crime from the FBIs uniform crime report.  The list seems startling, but Major Jim Baker of the Lima Police Department says crime in the city has actually fallen dramatically since 2008.  The data, which is from 2012, shows Lima had about 53 reported crimes for every 1,000 people.

Whitehall, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, was ranked as the most dangerous city in the state.  Several other suburbs are listed as well as major cities including Cleveland and Cincinnati. Â
