ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — Elida used a strong second inning and a solid outing on the mound to edge Kalida 4-3 at Ed Sandy Field.
The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second. A wild pitch allowed Carson Kirk to come home from third, putting Elida on the board first.
Later in the inning, Gabe Miley reached on an infield single that brought in Jack Daugherty, extending the lead. Elida added another run moments later when Ben Adcock singled into left field, scoring Darien Jones to cap off a three-run frame.
Kalida answered in the third with aggressive baserunning. With runners on the corners, the Wildcats executed a double steal, allowing Nathan Kahle to score and cut the deficit to 3-1.
On the mound, Elida’s Colton Graham kept Kalida in check. The sophomore allowed just one run while striking out nine batters over five innings of work.
Kalida made things interesting late, but the Bulldogs held on for the 4-3 victory, improving to 3-1 on the season.
