ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in rural Allen County this morning.

According to the Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, just before 10:30 a.m. Monday, first responders were called out to Redd Road north of U.S. 30 for a single-vehicle accident. A farming vehicle operated by 77-year-old Carl Dugger of Columbus Grove veered off the side of the road and rolled over, coming to a stop in a field. Dugger was trapped inside after the crash and was eventually taken to Mercy Health-Saint Rita's with life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

May 20, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Marion Township – The Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 10:10 AM on May 20, 2024. Carl Dugger was driving a Freightliner semi on Redd Rd near Evans Rd in Marion Township in Allen County. The semi drove off the right side of the roadway, came back on to the roadway, drove off the left side of the roadway, and overturned.

Carl Dugger, age 77, from Columbus Grove, Ohio was trapped inside the vehicle after it overturned. He suffered life threatening injuries and was transported by American Township EMS to Mercy Health St. Rita’s in Lima, Ohio.

Mr. Dugger was driving a 1985 Freightliner Conventional that sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Beaverdam Fleet Service.

Redd Rd. was closed for several hours due to debris in the roadway.

The Ohio State Highway patrol was assisted at the scene by Delphos Fire, American Township Fire and EMS, Allen County EMA, and Beaverdam Fleet Service.

The crash remains under investigation.
