In Shawnee, many people started their St. Patrick's Day with a nice helping of pancakes.
The Shawnee Optimist Club hosted their annual Pancake Breakfast at Shawnee Middle School. The group served up three different kind of pancakes throughout the day to raise money for their scholarship fund.
"We are a friend to the youth and we try to continue to be a friend of youth throughout the community," says Optimist Gordan Brubaker, a charter member of the club. "I think that we have done a lot of activities that are great for the youth in our community."
The Shawnee Optimists also incorporated a Spring Flower Sale into their pancake breakfast this year. It is the first flower sale for the group and they are selling everything but geraniums.
