Shops in downtown Lima prepare for Small Business Saturday

Some local businesses in downtown Lima were also gearing up this morning for the busy shopping day ahead. With today being Small Business Saturday those locally owned businesses in downtown want to remind the community how much the downtown area has to offer.

Clothing, jewelry, flower shops and more all within a few blocks makes it easy for shoppers to get everything they need. The owner of Don Jenkins Jewelers says he's been there for 28 years and has seen more and more businesses and specialty shops come into the area.

"Small businesses are very important. I support small businesses whenever I can. I like the extra knowledge they give you, I like the service, and the money does stay in the community," Scott Koenig, owner of Don Jenkins Jewelers, said.

Nitza's clothing shop downtown was also busy setting up for the season and encouraging the community to check out all shops in the area.

"It's been fun to see if you notice on Facebook, you can see all kinds of different 'how it used to be' well we like to think, not only was it great how it use to be, look at what's new now that we have. We have lots of new businesses downtown that we hope people will come down and support," Elizabeth Leis, co-owner of Nitza's, said.
