LIMA, OH (WLIO) - What little boy doesn't love superheroes and his mom? Sometimes they are one and the same.

It's time for the annual Mother-Son Superhero Dance at the Lima Family YMCA. It's a chance for mom to spend some quality one-on-one time with her boy. They can spend the night playing games, having snacks, and dancing dressed as their favorite superhero. Organizers say the event gets bigger each year.

"It started out a little bit smaller since the first time we had it about 6 years ago. Every year, it's gotten a little bit bigger. The sons and mothers kind of dress up with a different theme every time. Some of them have pictures that they've taken every year in their superhero. Some of them have their capes on, and they run on the track and have a great time with that. It's just really fun to see them enjoying themselves together," said Terri Averesch, vice president of the Lima Family YMCA.

The dance is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lima Family YMCA's gym, located at 345 S. Elizabeth St, Lima, OH 45801. It's free for members and only $6 per person for non-members. Costumes are suggested but not required.
