Six young women were vying for the title Miss Summer Moon Queen.
The annual scholarship pageant is nearly 30 years old and the young ladies were judged on their one on one interviews, creative performances, a speech competition, evening gowns, and individual questions round. After a tough competition, the judges selected junior Haven Swink as the 2018 queen. Swink says she took a chance when she decided to take part in the pageant and now she will be ruling on high as the Miss Summer Moon Queen.
“I wanted to take part in the pageant because it’s something different for me. It was really stepping out of my comfort zone and I have always wanted to do a pageant growing up, but I never really got into it. It was in my hometown, so I thought I would try it, so I did. I live in a really good town with an amazing support system, amazing people, amazing friends, amazing family, it’s going to be great,” said Haven Swink, 2018 Miss Summer Moon Queen.
Besides the title, Swink has won a $1,000 scholarship from Superior Credit Union and a lot of other prizes from local businesses.
