ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Lima man is heading back to prison after committing new crimes after he was released early from prison.

31-year-old Jaquevias Thompson was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the charges of attempted felonious assault, burglary, and two other charges. That sentence will start after he serves the remaining five years of an 18-year sentence from a 2009 robbery and burglary case. Thompson was granted early release after 13 years. But in March of this year, he stole a gun and allegedly used it when he threatened people in a vehicle outside a downtown Lima bar. Thompson says he was trying to de-escalate the situation.

"I wasn't trying to hurt anyone, like he said I was trying to defuse the situation as best I knew how," says Thompson. "Because everybody was aggressive or whatever. But, not to blame anyone, but like I said, I take responsibility. I just ask that you have some type of leniency on me today."

"I have been trying to figure you out for the past couple of years since I gave you judicial release," says Judge Jeffrey Reed, Allen County Common Pleas Court. "I'm trying to figure out now, and I am questioning myself, is this the type of person that you are, just this type of person and you're not ever going to change? I didn't see that two years ago when I gave you judicial release. I know that you've been in prison a long time. I know you went in to prison when you were very young. So, I gave you the chance to have the freedom and this is the way you react."

Prosecutors say that Thompson also failed to follow the rules of re-entry court and mental health court after he was released from prison.
