With a lot of concerns recently surrounding personal information and security on Facebook, there are a few things you can do to help keep your data safe.
Chad Bryan, director of IT Infrastructure and Security at the University of Northwestern Ohio, says that it's important to watch what you post online - and to limit the amount of personal information that you give out. You can change the security settings on Facebook to control who sees what you post. Bryan also recommends looking at apps that you may have connected Facebook with.
"Go in and look at your apps, and that's a big thing, a lot of people don't realize when they add an app and then log in through Facebook, that's how a lot of that information is shared," said Bryan. "If you're not using the app anymore, you might want to remove it from your Facebook account."
Bryan says another big thing to look out for are suspicious emails and messages from what looks like a sender that you trust - contact the sender before giving out info to see if the message is legitimate or not.
