On Sunday morning St. Johns Catholic Church received a special visit from Bishop Daniel Thomas.
Mass began with an entrance procession. Then the church prayed and sang a number of hymns.Singing was followed by Bishop Thomas’s message.
His message was about how Zacchaeus climbs a tree because he can't see Jesus. Also how Jesus tells him he must stay in his house. The bishop hopes that people realize that god wants to share the same kind of relationship he has with Zacchaeus.
His message was a part of celebrating All Souls' Day, a day dedicated to remembering lost lives.
“We pray for their souls - those who are in purgatory,” said Bishop Thomas. “Praying that they might gain heaven and we know that they are the recipients of our prayers and as a result please God we’ll be able to gain heaven.”
Sunday’s visit was a part of the bishop's three-day visit at both St. Johns and St. Rose.
