LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â A United States senator stopped in Lima on Saturday to show support for Sherrod Brown.Â
During her 8 years in office, she has worked with Brown to lower insulin costs for people with Medicare and keep VA healthcare from being privatized.Â
Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois encouraged local Democrats to talk to their family and friends about what losing the senate majority could mean for future policy. As a helicopter pilot in Iraq, Duckworth lost both of her legs and partial use of her right arm when an RPG was detonated in her lap. Her medical journey during her recovery taught her the importance of public assistance programs and the VA.Â
During her 8 years in office, she has worked with Brown to lower insulin costs for people with Medicare and keep VA healthcare from being privatized. She says that with a majority, Congress could start working on lowering epipen costs next and protecting the right to IVF. In contrast, she said that without the majority, new insulin prices could be rolled back, and policies like these would be near impossible to pass. Democratic incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown will be running against Bernie Moreno in the general election on November 5th.Â
