
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) -Â An investigation continues into the shooting death of a male teenager on Sunday in Allen County.
The Allen County Sheriff's Office is reporting that just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, a 15-year-old male was found shot and later died at Mercy Health-St. Rita's in Lima. He was at a home in the 11000 block of Slabtown Road. Another 15-year-old male was taken into custody at the home. He is being held in the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center. Sheriff's detectives tell us today it appears through the preliminary investigation, that the shooting was likely unintentional. They say the suspect and victim were family members and investigators are looking into the actions leading up to the shooting.

January 9, 2024 Press Release from the Allen County Sheriff's Office: On Sunday 1-7-2024 at 2:57am. The Allen County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence in the 11000 block of Slabtown Rd.
Upon the arrival Putnam County EMS was already on scene, attempting lifesaving measures on a 15 year old male victim. He was transported to Mercy Health in Lima, Ohio, where he succumbed to his injury.
Another 15 year old male was taken into custody at the scene. He is currently being held at the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center. The suspect and victim were family members and actions that led to the shooting are still being investigated.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Allen County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau.
