He has been painting for decades and the number of murals with his name on them is adding up.
We checked in on Oscar Velasquez in early May as he started a mural in Kalida on the side of the Kalida IGA store. On Wednesday, that piece of artwork was dedicated by the Kalida Chamber of Commerce.
It's a mural depicting Kalida's history on the side of the grocery store. The mural has a history ranging from Kalida's pioneer days through the long line of local businesses. Velasquez says in terms of length, this is the longest mural he's ever done. The mural took 4 months to paint.
This is Velasquez's 46th mural in this region, 16 of them in Putnam County alone.
