SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) - Shawnee Township Event Planning (STEP) will host country rock duo Chase'N'Tyler June 27 at Shawnee Football Stadium as part of the 2026 Freedom Fest.
The festival will feature food trucks and vendors, as well as inflatables and bounce houses for kids and families. The event will end with a military salute and a state-of-the-art drone light show.Â
Parking will be available around Shawnee High School and the Reinhardt Complex on the day of the event, and officials are asking those attending not to bring pets with them.Â
Members of the planning committee said the event is being held to help bring the community together and give families a fun event for the summer.
"STEP is all about involving the community and giving the family something to do, and giving them other options. There's plenty going on in the area, and having another option that is closer to home is fun for everybody," said Megan Hirn, STEP committee member.
Chase'N'Tyler is made up of musicians and lifelong friends Chase Cummings and Tyler Ackerman. Ackerman, a Waynesfield native, said that bringing their sound to the community is part of their goal as musicians.
"It's a hometown vibe. One thing that we really strive to do is be really about where we came from and what we did growing up, it's a real good hometown vibe. Bringing it back to the hometown stuff is really what it's about for us." said Ackerman.
"It's just a big old homecoming, honestly. Our guitar player actually graduated from Shawnee, so this is actually a legit homecoming for him. He gets to see a lot of the guys that he grew up with and we get to see everybody that we grew up with," Cummings added.
