LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is continuing its efforts to connect residents directly with city leadership through its "Walking the Wards with Mayor Sharetta Smith" initiative.

City officials have announced the dates and locations for the final five events of the year. The first two meetings, held earlier this year, gave residents an opportunity to share concerns and discuss ideas about their neighborhoods with Mayor Sharetta Smith, members of her administration and public safety officials.

Residents have raised concerns about speeding, parking and property maintenance issues during previous meetings. The events have now transitioned from neighborhood walks to a meeting format that includes a ward progress report, allowing residents to receive updates on city projects and future investments.

Jessica Begonia, Lima's public information officer, said attendees will get an early look at improvements taking place throughout the city.

"Anyone who is showing up for these events and able to participate will get a preview of different street updates, curb investments, sidewalks, and also some of the utility line replacements that we have through our lead service line program. So lots of great things to be able to see the investments that have been done in the last few years, but also what investments are still yet to come," Begonia said.

The remaining Walking the Wards events will be held on the last Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m.
