LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The last remaining Victorian-style home from Lima's former Golden Block of the 1800s opened Saturday night for free Christmas tours.
People at the MacDonell House's Holiday Soiree enjoyed a classy wine and cheese spread and explored two floors of the historic home. The rooms were all decorated for the holiday, each containing at least one Christmas tree. The Allen County Museum, which maintains the building, also wanted to show off their newly restored stained glass window. The last time it had been properly cleaned was about 110 years ago.
"Seeing it at night is always kind of fun, because of the lights it's a little bit more romantic, a little bit more festive. The windows are amazing. We have them lit from the outside so you can get a really good look at them. We didn't realize how great the stained glass windows were until they were cleaned, so we're just really happy about them," said Dr. Christine Fowler Shearer, the director of the Allen County Museum.
The Christmas decorations at the MacDonell House will stay up until January.
