This is the first year that the Shawnee Cemetery will be the site of one of the ceremonies to honor those men and women who served our country. Thanks to donations from businesses and individuals, they will have nearly 600 wreaths they are going to place on the veterans' gravesites.
During every ceremony nationwide this weekend, the goal is the same.
The event is rain or shine, so you may want to dress for the weather if you come out to help.
"Remember the fallen heroes, honor those that served and their families, and teach the next generation the value of freedom. So, we are encompassing all of that. I got young kids that are going to come and place wreaths. We have military background in our family, and we are there to honor, from all the way, the War of 1812 is the oldest one that we have, veterans that we have in our cemetery. All the way to our Gold Star hero who passed away in 2008, Iraq, Christian Neff, he is also in there. So, we have a wide range of veterans and those that have served in our cemetery," says Veronica Hawk, Shawnee Wreaths Across America.
The Shawnee Cemetery is located at 2690 Shawnee Rd, Lima, OH, United States, Ohio 45806.
