“The purpose of the provisional ballot is, if you have moved and not updated your address, instead of your ballot going through the machine, it’s sealed in an envelope,” Bode said. “When we get it back in the office, we verify that you did not vote at your old address before we process your registration for your new address and count that ballot.”

Former Lima Fire Chief Andy Heffner has officially announced his candidacy for Bath Township Trustee. Heffner, a longtime Bath resident, was formally approved by the Allen County Board of Elections for the November 4th ballot.

The Allen County Board of Elections wants to remind people of the petition deadline for the May primary. With it being an off-year election, voters will be deciding who will be representing them at the county and municipal level. So anyone interested in running for those seats must get their petitions signed and submitted by Wednesday, February 5th, to be on the ballot.

October 24, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Board of Elections: We want to remind voters that early voting for the upcoming General Election is only available at the Board of Elections Office. We have received reports from some of our polling locations indicating that individuals are calling or visiting in an attempt to vote early at these sites. Please note that polling locations will only be open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Early voting is not conducted at these polling places.

The line was out the door at the Allen County Board of Elections as voters wanted their vote to count. The board will start having extended hours as we get closer to the November 5th general election. Requested absentee ballots will start being mailed and must be returned or postmarked by November 4th. To vote early in person at the board of elections, you must present a valid and approved photo ID such as an Ohio driver's license, state of Ohio ID card, or U.S. passport.
