He is a familiar face in Allen County, being actively involved in everything from the Allen County Fair to the Auglaize Township Historical Society.  For this 2026 Lee Volunteer Awards winner, Conner Prince highlights Chad Hughes and his lifelong commitment to serving the Lima area.

The Ottawa River Coalition will host its annual Good Friday fish fry on April 3, expecting another strong turnout after last year’s sellout event. Proceeds will support river cleanup, education and scholarship efforts.

A big announcement was made by Allen County Fairgrounds about their headliner in August. Country-rock singer Koe Wetzel is set to perform at the fair. 

Betsy Billingsley, executive director of Visit Greater Lima, said, “Overwhelming. We were really surprised by our second one. We had over 30 entrances, which we, you know, you think, oh, maybe a couple here and there, but people are really catching on. And we just love those pictures that you take with your grandkids or the family, or, you know, a great day that you've had here in town.”

The Ohio State University meat judging team evaluated steers, hogs, goats and sheep during the annual Kewpee Carcass Show at Keystone Meats, continuing competition for Allen County Fair junior exhibitors.

The Allen County Fair is hosting its annual Gun and Purse Bingo Night on Sept. 13 to raise funds for future fairground projects, featuring raffles, auctions and a wide variety of prizes.
