Allen East students getting a chance to spend some time outside Wednesday afternoon with their third annual field day. The event was held at the school football field and featured different activities for students to participate in, including kickball games and photo scavenger hunts.

Students at Allen East High School got to sit behind the wheel of a distracted driving simulation to see the real-life consequences of what it’s like to take your eyes off the road. According to the CDC, car crashes are the number one cause of death for teens in the country, and most of them involve reckless and distracted driving. It’s this preventable health epidemic that the students in SADD are trying to fight.

The "Gatekeepers Suicide Prevention Club" at Allen East organized "The Walk of Hope" to remind their classmates that they're not alone. The whole school gathered on the track after school where staff member Mike Abbey led the walk, who lost his son to suicide four years ago. The purpose of the walk is to help give the students a sense of belonging together.

Ten finalists took to the Allen East stage to prove they've got the right stuff to be Marimor's idol. While they were singing their favorite song to the crowd, people participating in the 14th annual Marimor Idol competition were judged on their stage presence and vocal quality. The event gives those with developmental disabilities a chance to step into the spotlight and be the stars.
