The City of Lima's Summer Parks Program has begun its eight-week season at Faurot and Robb parks, offering children ages 6 to 12 a summer filled with games, crafts, playground activities and field trips. Organizers say the first day brought excitement as returning participants and newcomers began building friendships and enjoying summer fun.

Registration for the annual program begins Tuesday, May 20, with extended office hours at the Lima Parks Department. Parents can sign their children up at the department’s office in the City Garage on Collett Street from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 20 and 21.

The event will take place in Lima’s Town Square on Thursday, May 22, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., marking the last day of school for Lima City Schools students. It promises to be an afternoon of free books, arts and crafts, snacks, a reader's corner, and other family-friendly activities. The Lima Education Association and retired OEA members have teamed up to make the event possible.
