The investigation continues into the barn fire at Ruth Farm in eastern Allen County. According to state fire marshal investigators, the fire started in the breezeway that connected two barns. There was electrical and equipment that ran in the breezeway between the two barns, and fire investigators are trying to determine the exact cause that started the fire.
Around 8:30 p.m. Friday, scanner traffic indicated the request for a tanker and for mutual aid to a barn fire located at 652 Township Road 110 outside of Alger. No information has been released on damage or if any injuries have occurred. We will update when it becomes available.
A barn is destroyed after a morning fire in rural Allen County.
The American Township Fire Department was called out to 7630 Lincoln Highway just before 6 a.m. The barn was fully engulfed and filled with construction equipment. They were able to pull some of the equipment out of the barn, but the barn and some of the contents were at total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire departments from Delphos, Fort Jennings and Kalida assisted in putting out the blaze, with water and manpower.
Multiple fire departments called out to deal with a large barn fire in Putnam County early Monday evening. This is drone video sent to us by a viewer, of the fire at a residence off Road 23 Q, near Fort Jennings. Fire crews from Fort Jennings, Delphos, and Ottoville called out around 6:40. Initial reports said one building was on fire and close to igniting another. There were also concerns about a propane tank near one of the buildings. There's no word on what started the fire, or the extent of the damage.
Usually rural fires are more difficult to tackle because water has to be transported to the location but thanks to a water main that was installed in 2015 to bring Lima water to Cairo firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly.
