Increased benefits that were implemented during the pandemic will soon be rolling back to the average monthly amount starting at the end of February. The change is coming not only to Allen County but nationwide. Some people were reportedly getting up to $400 in food stamp benefits, but that number will slowly be scaled back to the normal amount of less than $100.
About 70 million Americans will see a boost of about 8.7% in their Social Security checks starting as soon as Friday. Â The raise in benefits will go to both those receiving regular social security and supplemental security income benefits.
 The hike in the cost-of-living adjustments is the highest since 1981, based on inflation.  Average payouts will increase by more than $140 per month.  An added benefit for recipients is that Medicare premiums are going down, while social security benefits go up.

The county will be getting its first roundabout this summer at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Marsh Road. Construction will start in June, after school lets out for the year, and is expected to be complete when students return in the fall. ODOT District 1 held a driver safety event to show people how to navigate a single-lane roundabout.
