Wings and Rings presented a check of over $1,800 to the West Ohio Food Bank today. The donation comes from eight fundraisers they held throughout the year, their Monday night classic car and bike cruise-in events. 10% of all food sales during these events was collected to donate to the food bank. The Wings and Rings general manager says their business is grateful to have the opportunity to support others in the community.
A motorcyclist was killed after his bike drove off a curve in rural Mercer County. 22-year-old Austin Bussell of Maineville, Ohio died from injuries he sustained in a crash that happened on SR 119 near the Indiana state line just before 2:30 pm on Saturday.  According to deputies, Bussell was heading east when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and ran off the south side of the roadway. He was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.Â
The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force is expanding the focus of their active transportation survey to include youth aged 11 years to 19 years old to take a short survey. The information they are looking for is how you get from place to place in your daily routine. It can be walking, biking, or even skateboarding. Anything that takes physical human power.
Thanks to a grant from Allen County Public Health, city crews have been replacing sharrows in several neighborhoods. The marking is to remind motorists and bicyclists that they are sharing the road on designated bike routes. The thermoplastic material is melted onto the pavement rather than painted to increase the life of the markings. The city and the health department have teamed up before with grant opportunities.
The Bike and Pedestrian Task Force discussed ways to improve overall transportation in the area, with a focus on youth. The group says that they want to gather input from the area's young minds in order to have their voices heard, as well as give them a chance to participate in making a change in their community.

An event raised money for new bike paths in the Village of Bluffton. The Bluffton Lions Foundation hosted the seventh annual Ride to Remember on Saturday morning, brining cyclists from town and outside to come together and raise money for new paths.
A portion of North Street was closed for a short period due to a Car VS Bike accident. On Friday shortly after 4:00 PM, a driver was traveling on North Street towards Washington Street when the driver struck a pedestrian on a bike.

Bicycle shops across the country have seen an influx in sales over the past couple of months. So much so that most of the 2020 inventory is already sold out. Crankers Cycling in downtown Lima has even seen their used bicycles sell out faster than ever. The challenge now is restocking their inventory quickly enough. Most of their products come from China, where there has been an obvious delay in production.
