The inaugural Lee Volunteer Awards announced finalists honoring adults and youth who make significant community contributions.
Top winners will be revealed at a community dinner April 22 at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
The “Mooseum,” located under the grandstand, has been a 10-year mission for organizers who assembled a collection reflecting the fair’s history. Many of the exhibits were donated by Allen County families with deep ties to the fair, while others were discovered after countless hours of searching archives.
The 175th Allen County Fair officially opened its gates this afternoon.
A preview of the fair rolled through downtown Lima as members of the Junior Fair, high school bands, cheer squads and others showcased their personalities on floats. They also introduced residents to the many projects, 4-H groups and shows they can enjoy during the 2025 fair.

When promotions and operations manager Chad Hughes resigned at the end of May, the board picked up the duties of his role as they planned for the upcoming Allen County Fair. The board met, looking to tie up loose ends and get last minute preparations like getting ready for the Brad Paisley concert, or bringing in judges for events. Last year, the fair was reduced to a junior fair, but this year the president of the board is excited to get back to normal and bring attendees that full fair experience.
The Allen County Agricultural Society is still looking for a promotions and operations manager.
Canadian country artist MacKenzie Porter has been named the concert's opening act. The 31-year-old is known for her most popular singles "Drinkin' Songs" and "These Days". She has also opened for country stars Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and Blake Shelton. Chad Hughes, the Allen County Fair Promotions & Operations Manager, says everything for a full fair is being planned, and rounding out the concert is just one more step towards that.
Current Promotions and Operations Manager Chad Hughes has tendered his resignation effective May 30th. Hughes was hired back in October of 2020 and says he has enjoyed his time at the helm and will always support the Allen County Fair, but a new career path has presented itself that he couldn’t pass on. The Ag Society Board of Directors are sad to see Hughes leave and have already started the process to find a replacement.
Following a year where the Allen County Fair was reduced to a Jr Fair, the administration is planning on holding a full fair. Chad Hughes, the Allen County Fairgrounds Promotions & Operations Manager is hopeful that they will be able to provide a full fair with rides, bands, food venues, and other events and attractions.
