“We're still fighting the battle of screens, whether that be a phone, tablet or a computer,” said Fred Miller Jr., president of the Wapakoneta Breakfast Optimist Club. “So we're trying to encourage the kids to stay involved in reading books. We know how much reading is a part of their education. Also, working at the library, we encourage those kids to come up and stop at the local library and also get books for the Summer Reading Challenge.”

The four-woman panel at this quarter’s “Women in Business” event featured three business owners and a local hospital executive, offering insights on achieving a successful career. Panelists included Bev Beery, Lynn Carpenter, Tracie Sanchez, and Krista Schrader, each sharing their journey of making a mark in a traditionally male-dominated world.

Lima Senior Culinary students had to think outside the box to turn some military staples into some tasty dishes. The students picked two different "Meals Ready to Eat," or MREs, and created an appetizer, main course, and dessert in a chopped-style challenge. The students had a little over an hour to transform meals like sausage and peppers, beef and black beans, and Mexican chicken into something new.

This FREE challenge requires participants to complete 1,020 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity from August 8 through September 19, 2024.

Some of you may have losing weight or eating healthier on your New Years Resolution List, and the Grand Lake Health System kicked off an annual event to help the community out. Tonight was the kickoff night for the 17th annual Grand Health Challenge at the St. Marys Theater. Participants arrived around 6:30 PM Tuesday Evening to start their journey to good health by weighing in for their starting points and then were instructed the rules of the challenge inside the theater.

Captains Phillip and Charity Bender will be outside Walmart on both of Lima's east and west sides on December 9th as part of the national challenge. The challenge is being put on by the Salvation Army's national commander and commissioner, where the top officials of all chapters will be outside ringing the bell in hopes of gathering donations for their mission.
