DEFIANCE, Ohio (WLIO) — A local non-conference showdown in the third game of the Grube Holiday Classic unfolded as the unbeaten Wapakoneta Redskins hosted the Findlay Trojans, with Wapakoneta pulling away late for a 48–38 victory.
The Redskins set the tone early in the first quarter. Junior Blake Rogers got Wapakoneta going with a floater in the lane, giving the home team an early two-point edge.
Findlay responded quickly. Reece Stillings knocked down a turnaround jumper to pull the Trojans within one and keep the pressure on. Moments later, Findlay capitalized off a turnover as sophomore Cam Stechschulte pushed the pace and found Hudson Yeager in transition. The senior finished at the rim to keep the Trojans within striking distance.
Wapakoneta answered back from the perimeter. Trent Lisi drilled a three-pointer to swing momentum back to the Redskins and help them create separation as the game wore on.
Down the stretch, the Redskins pulled away late to secure the 10-point win.
Wapakoneta improves to 6–0 on the season, while Findlay drops to 1–4.
