COLUMBUS, OH (NATIONWIDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL) - Playing sports can be a game changer for kids—with benefits to their physical, mental, and emotional health that can last a lifetime. But about seventy percent of kids quit playing by the age of thirteen, often due to overscheduling, excessive training or pressure to perform. A new national survey finds most parents have their kids in sports for all the right reasons, but experts at the kids mental health foundation say consistent communication with kids is critical to ensure athletic play remains a positive force in their lives.

The Oheneba Soccer Academy is a Lima-based organization that aims to help bolster kid's feelings of self-worth and value, which will in turn help boost confidence. A game was held on collet street next to safety city, and organizers hope that kids learn important life lessons through the game of soccer.

Prior to the pandemic, the event was held as an annual tradition at South Science and Technology Magnet. The event is now being organized by Lima Senior's Agriculture and Outdoor Education program and is being moved to the Allen County Fairgrounds. Students rotated through various hands-on stations that included lessons on urban gardening, the evolution of agriculture equipment, crop production, wildlife, and natural resources.

A weak disturbance will bring a few pockets of light snow for the afternoon. Some of this could also mix with drizzle.
