DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - There was good food and better conversation at Delphos Saint John's Veteran's Breakfast.
Doctors recommend explaining to your child that there's never a reason an adult would need a child's help finding something. It's also a good idea to go over some scenarios where a bad person might ask them for help. For example, they might say they lost their puppy and need help finding it. Or they may try to entice them with treats or even electronics. Doctors say it's also important to teach your kids who the "good people" are like police officers, firefighters, and teachers.
An active shooter drill helped different agencies in Lima and Allen County stay prepared in case of an actual threat. Lima City Schools partnered with Lima Police and Fire as well as the Allen County Emergency Management Agency to identify ways that they can improve overall response in case of an active shooter threat.
Now that Queen Elizabeth has been laid to rest, the future of the monarchy falls on the shoulders of King Charles. The late Queen cast a big shadow over future rulers, because of the legacy she left being on the throne. She was the figure head of the one of the leading western nations for over 70 years and now King Charles and Prince William will be figuring out the role of the British royalty in the future. Â
It's one of many positive changes to come out of the last couple of years. Psychologists say the pandemic also triggered more conversations about mental health, which helped reduce stigmas. In addition, many people had to find new ways to cope if they couldn't go to the gym or connect with family and friends. Research shows some still continue with these new habits even now that the restrictions have ended.
Members talked over concerns that have been expressed over the project, ranging from who would have final authority over scheduling and use of the aquatics center, to who would make up the planned advisory council for the facility. There was also discussion over the Lima City Schools' contribution and involvement in the project. The committee then voted to recommend the council of the whole, approve a memorandum of understanding with the Lima City Schools, concerning the pool.
They are known as Court Side Ministries and the Lima Chapter can be found outside the Lima Municipal building offering prayer for those heading inside, taking time to talk with people and let them know that someone cares about them.
Justice Sharon Kennedy has been traveling across the state in order to promote veteran treatment courts, which aim to help veterans who return from service and are suffering from PTSD and other issues. Kennedy says that she has had many conversations with leaders in the state in order to advance the court to the level it needs to be to help veterans.
