Residents at Otterbein Cridersville enjoyed tethered hot air balloon rides provided by Midwest Balloon Rides of Indiana. The event marked the third time the retirement community has hosted the experience for seniors.

Residents at Otterbein Cridersville had special visitors this afternoon.

Cridersville’s annual Food Truck Festival and Jeep Invasion brought together dozens of food trucks, vendors and Jeep enthusiasts while raising funds to support the local fire department.

A popular Jeep and food truck event will take place April 25 in Cridersville, raising funds for the local fire department. Organizers say the event has grown each year since its start during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A major water line break forced officials in Cridersville to shut off water service to the entire village while crews work to make repairs. Once service is restored, a boil water advisory will be issued for all residents until further notice.

Barbara Bonifas said the ride brought back fond memories. “Just kind of exhilarating and fun to be out there swinging around in the snow, snow flying in your face. And you know, it just reminds us, well, when we were kids, and we were over at Farout Park, going down the hill.”

“It was suggested that we reach out to Apollo’s construction trade class and see whether or not they’d be able to do it for us. And when we did, they were very excited about the opportunity, and we’re very, very grateful,” Myers said. “Our costs are minimal, just the actual fuel costs and the dumpster containers, so it allows us to have more money available for the expansion than for the demolition.”
