DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - On the eve of the eclipse, the Delphos Running Club hosted a 5K run at Delphos Jefferson High School on Sunday.
Jefferson High School held their first college and career fair. The juniors and seniors were able to talk to over 30 different universities, career centers, and military recruiters to get a better idea of what each has to offer and how they may fit into their future plans. Organizers want to show that there are many choices available and they should at a lot of them to help them make a better decision.
Delphos Jefferson has a "Career Choice" program where they talk with freshman about their future goals and helps them to create a 10-year plan, along with learning more about career building and budgeting. The school is just one of 22 schools across the country to win the "Career choices silver medal" as they continue to be dedicated to student success.
Delphos Jefferson High is being awarded with a Career Choices Silver Medal for promoting student success with the Career Choices series curriculum and My10yearPlan.com. The school’s Career Choices program helps students create online 10-year plans for their future education and career goals. The program, which is administered in a class for freshmen at Delphos Jefferson High, is meaningful because it helps students discover what they want and how to get it, said Karissa Hoerston, a teacher at Delphos Jefferson High.
Tuesday was the first day of hybrid learning at Delphos Jefferson High School after students tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Delphos Jefferson principal Chad Brinkman announced on the school's Facebook page that three students tested positive and around 43 students were placed in quarantine through contact tracing.
One student has been detained by police after Jefferson High School went into lockdown. The school was locked down for nearly two hours as school officials got word that there may be guns in the building. They heard a home in Delphos was robbed of two guns and that students may know where the guns are. Some students were interviewed the rest were dismissed at 1:15 because police said they could search the building better if it was empty. Police later found the guns in two separate locations but not on school grounds.
Members of the Delphos Jefferson Girls Basketball teams made a special donation to nursing home residents Tuesday afternoon.
